Round Up Savings "RUS" Questions & Answers
| Questions | Answers |
|---|---|
Questions Is there a service fee for "RUS"? | Answers No, there are no service charges or fees to be enrolled in the “RUS” program. |
Questions Can I use any debit card for this program? | Answers Only Pillar Bank debit cards linked to a Pillar Bank checking account are eligible for the
“RUS” program. |
Questions Which savings account can receive my rounded up transfer deposits? | Answers You can link your Regular Savings account. (IRAs, HSAs, Money Markets, Kids,
Christmas and Vacation Club accounts are excluded.) |
Questions If I have multiple Pillar Bank checking accounts, can I sign up for “RUS” for all of my checking
accounts? | Answers Yes, you may sign up all of your consumer Pillar Bank checking accounts for this
program that have a debit card linked to each checking account. |
Questions Do “RUS” transfers apply to checks written on my account? | Answers No, your checks will not be rounded up. “RUS” only applies to debit card purchases on
the account you enroll. |
Questions What if I don't have enough funds in my checking account to cover the rounded up amount for
transfer?
| Answers The daily transfer will not occur if the amount of the debit exceeds the available balance
in your checking account. “RUS” transfers will not incur overdraft fees, nor prompt
overdraft protection transfers. Any transfers that do not post due to an insufficient
available balance in your checking account should be considered cancelled and will not
be debited from your account. |
Questions My spouse and I have a joint checking account with individual debit cards. Will “RUS” apply to
both cards? | Answers Yes, if there are multiple debit cards associated with your checking account with “RUS”,
debit transactions will be rounded up for all cards transacting on the account. “RUS”
will not cease if your debit card is replaced, including if you get a different debit card
number. |
Questions Will “RUS” transfers appear on my statement? | Answers Yes, each time you make a purchase with the debit card the Bank will total the rounded-
up amounts for that day. That combined total will be debited from your checking
account and credited to your savings account. Only one “RUS” debit will appear on your
checking account per business day (Monday–Friday, excluding federal holidays), and it
will display as “RUS” on your statement. |
Questions I made several purchases yesterday, but I am not seeing the rounded up amount for my “RUS”
transfer? | Answers
Debit card transactions are rounded up and counted toward the transfer once they post
and clear the account (transactions in pending status are not). Signature (credit, point
of sale) transactions usually take one or two days to post and settle. Not all vendors
process same day transactions, so round up transactions may vary based on timing of
vendor processing. Once the debit card transactions post, the “RUS” round up amount
will be processed the following business day if funds are available.
|
Questions Can my round up amount be deposited into multiple savings accounts?
| Answers No, the rounded up amount can only go into one Pillar Bank savings account. |
Questions Can the round up amount be deposited into an account that is not mine? | Answers Yes, the round up amount can be deposited into any Pillar Bank savings account as
designated by one of the checking account owners. |
Questions If I cancel today, will my round up amount from yesterday still transfer?
| Answers Yes, canceling today will stop only tomorrow's “RUS” transaction from posting. |
Questions I had to open a new checking account to replace my account currently being used for “RUS”.
Will this affect my enrollment? | Answers Yes, the new checking account will need to be enrolled in “RUS”. |
Questions Are there any excluded debit card transactions? | Answers ATM transactions will not be rounded up. |
Questions What happens if I close the accounts that are tied to “RUS”? | Answers If the checking account enrolled in “RUS” is closed or all accounts receiving “RUS”
transfers are closed, your enrollment will be cancelled. |
Questions How do I cancel “RUS” if I change my mind? | Answers You may cancel “RUS” at any time. You can cancel enrollment by stopping by a branch
or contacting us during normal business hours. Once “RUS” is canceled, the round-up
feature will be removed, and debit card transactions will post for the exact amount as
the transaction |
